Ingredients

  • 1 pound of fresh mushrooms about 450g
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce low-sodium, if preferred
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or any cooking oil of your choice
  • Fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the mushrooms: Clean your mushrooms by wiping each cap with a damp kitchen towel or using a mushroom brush to remove any dirt, being careful not to soak them as they absorb moisture; slice smaller mushrooms in half and larger ones into quarters or thick slices, keeping them about the same size for even cooking, and transfer them to a large mixing bowl.
  • Season the mushrooms: Add garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the mushrooms in the bowl and toss gently to coat evenly, then drizzle soy sauce over them for flavor and browning, followed by olive oil to help crisp them up in the air fryer, and toss again to ensure everything is evenly coated.
  • Cook the mushrooms in the air fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 360°F for 3-5 minutes, then carefully arrange the seasoned mushrooms in a single layer in the air fryer basket (avoid overcrowding) and cook for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through (4-5 minutes) to ensure even cooking; the mushrooms should be tender with crispy edges and a golden brown color.
  • Final step: Once cooked, carefully remove the basket from the air fryer, transfer the mushrooms to a serving dish, garnish with freshly chopped parsley for added flavor and color, and serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Notes

  • Choosing Mushrooms: You can use white button mushrooms, cremini (baby bella), or portobello mushrooms for this recipe.
  • Serving Suggestions: These mushrooms make a great side dish, snack, or topping for salads, pizza, or pasta, and pair well with dipping sauces like ranch, garlic aioli, or balsamic glaze.
Storage Tips:
  • Leftovers: Let any leftover mushrooms cool completely before transferring them to an airtight container; store in the fridge for 2-3 days.
  • Reheating: To keep the mushrooms crispy, reheat in the air fryer at 360°F for 3-5 minutes or in the oven at the same temperature for a few minutes.
