Ingredients

  • 2 limes
  • 2-3 sprigs of fresh mint
  • 4 teaspoons of sugar or to taste
  • 1 2/3 cups still water or sparkling water soda water
  • Ice
  • Optional: sprig of mint and lime slice for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the limes: Cut the limes into quarters.
  • Mixing: In a pitcher, add the lime quarters, mint, and sugar. Gently muddle everything together using a spoon to release the lime juice and infuse the mint aroma.
  • Adding ice: Fill the pitcher with ice to the top.
  • Pouring water: Pour in still water or sparkling water and stir well.
  • Serving: Pour into glasses, add more ice if needed. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a lime slice.

Notes

  • Use the back of a wooden spoon to gently press the mint leaves - don't crush them too hard
  • Try using honey instead of sugar for a different kind of sweetness
  • Make sure your mint is fresh - it makes a big difference in flavor
  • Chill your glasses in the freezer for 10 minutes before serving
  • For a party, prepare the lime and mint mixture ahead of time, then add ice and water when guests arrive
  • Try adding a few cucumber slices for an extra refreshing twist
